THE HEART OF TODAY

The heart of today’s new thought really isn’t new at all.

While researching literary works of the past
To gain a broader perspective of “The Law of Attraction”,
I happened upon the wonderful work of Ella Wheeler Wilcox.

“The Heart of New Thought”.

It is clear to me that though almost 100 years have passed, those concepts we call new have always been. They are simply there, waiting for us to awaken to their reality.

The following are excerpts I highlighted from that text:

“Our thoughts are shaping unmade spheres,
And, like a blessing or a curse,
They thunder down the formless years
And ring throughout the universe”

“The more we realize the tremendous responsibility of our mental emanations the better for the world and ourselves”

“If a man thinks sickness, poverty and misfortune, he will meet them and claim them all eventually as his own”

“Whatever is out of harmony in our little world has been caused by man’s substituting hate and fear for love and faith”

“Every time we allow either hate or fear to dominate our minds we disarrange the order of the universe and make trouble for humanity, and ourselves”

“It may be a little late in reaching us, but it is sure to come back to the MIND which sent forth the cause”

“Every time we entertain thoughts of love, sympathy, forgiveness and faith we add to the well-being of the world, and create fortunate and successful conditions for ourselves”

“Those, too, may be late in coming to us~
BUT THEY WILL COME”

“Think success, prosperity, usefulness.
It is much more profitable than thinking self-destruction”

I have been busy with other things for the last couple of months. I will begin posting here again.

Enjoy

"ALL ISSUES ARE MY OWN"

Todays post will short & sweet, written mostly for a selfish purpose.

After a week of what can only be called "a pain body attack"~Eckhart Tolle
and thanks to my understanding of the principles that operate in our lives,
I come away from the experience a little closer to that which I truly AM.

To be clear~even the statement "All Issues Are My Own" is not quite accurate.
The issues are born of and belong to the EGO, which I am NOT.

And to show that in every challenge there is a seed planted that fosters our highest good,
after days of writing my thoughts on paper and working my way to the crux, I did indeed find that seed.

And out of that experience came a few missguidedkat quotes:

This is where the selfish part comes in~I realized that since I will want to use these statements in a future photography book that I am working on, it would be a good idea to get them in print with a verifiable date & time. (The first and only necessary step in copyright protection)

"Things change and I change with them, adapting to each new environment." missguidedkat

"Life is a wonderful adventure, with a treasure chest full of costumes before me. I AM a child forever playing dress-up and living out the dreams of my imagination." missguidedkat

"Things change, it is a fact of life. I choose to create change rather than be blown about by the winds of it." missguidedkat

A WEEKEND WELL SPENT

For many months now, life has been steamrolling along at a rather hectic pace. Doing this and doing that in the hopes of achieving something.
I hadn't planned to take the weekend off, it just sort of happened all by itself.
It started by accepting an early afternoon invitation on Saturday and just seemd to flow into other events with no rhyme or reason. In retrospect, I find myself amazed at the perfection of timing that occurs when things are left to their own accord.
The following is an account of the weekend that I had sent to a friend in an e-mail message on Sunday evening:

It was a wonderful weekend here.
The weather is in the nineties with a light breeze blowing that keeps one cool.
Saturday, I attended an appreciation luncheon for the volunteers of Hospice. Jo Ann volunteers for patient home assistance.
After which we went to Town Square, a trip to the bookstore and coffee.
Our friend James came around the corner while we were sitting there and the three of us wandered around.
They were having an event in the park with live music. Four adorable young girls playing electric violins & cello.
The musical piece was one of those beautiful songs that have life affirming lyrics. James amused us by breaking into song…he knew all the words.
There were lots of children playing and dogs running around….I thought of Tam and the harlequin dane. I kicked myself for once again not having my camera on hand.
We then ventured over to movie theatre and saw The Soloist…..Brilliant.
When we came out of the movie the event had turned to a Wine Walk.
We milled around a little longer and then with hugs and farewells came home.

Today, we went to The District.
It is much the same as Town Square, but a single street design.
Another beautiful day.
They were having their annual Art Walk.
I met some very talented people and I think I have even made a few new friends.
There were a couple of awesome experiences, hopefully you will read about them in my blog WITH PICTURES.
Yes, I finally remembered to take my camera.
James joined us there as well. And he invited a friend.
We tried a new place to eat that the friend recommended. Wonderful!
A small Greek restaurant tucked away in the corner. The food was incredible.
James and his friend took off after lunch.
Jo Ann and I hit The Coffee Bean.
We sat outside enjoying the environment.
While we certainly chatted, there was much time spent in quiet silence, just soaking up all the wonderful energy that surrounded us.

Both of us had reached that peaceful state where we knew that if we simply closed our eyes we would be off to blissful slumber.
That’s exactly where the day ended, came home and took a nice long nap.

Life is Good !

After the nap, I began to think of these events at a deeper level.
I suddenly realized that at no time during the weekend had I allowed any thoughts to interfere with the simplicity and perfection of my weekend. I also noticed that no castrophes had taken place while I had placed my "To Do" list on hold.
I thought about a casual comment that was made at lunch.
On Friday, Danny Gans, a gifted & wonderful entertainer here in Las Vegas, died in his home at the age of 52.
He was a global musical legend and a "good man" in the community.
While we sat with friends, eating wonderful food, in a beautiful enviroment and sharing our appreciation of the moment, James friend Jack wondered out loud "How do you think Danny Gans spent Friday?"

If today were my last, it was a day well spent.

WEEDS CAN SHOW THE WAY

I LOVE ROSES
Years ago my home was landscaped and adorned with some of the most beautiful roses I have ever seen. (if i do say so myself)
With a hectic life and a busy schedule, I would make the time to plant, feed, prune, care and nurture this object of affection.
My rewards were many.
Quiet moments at the kitchen table, looking out of the bay window where I had strategically placed four Tropicana Rose bushes. At their peak, they would tower high above the window.
A picture perfect backdrop through the window, framed by the chantilly lace cascade valances.
The Tropicana Roses were my favorite. Long, strong stalks with buds of irridescent orange that transformed before my eyes to brilliant red roses about the size of a small head of lettuce.

I learned many lessons about life while tending to my roses.

Lessons about giving and receiving, lessons about the natural timing of the seasons and lessons about cutting away the old to make way for the new.

The garden provided me with some of my first conscious experiences of being in the present moment.

However, my greatest lessons came from the weeds.

On one particular day, I approached the task of clearing the weeds with a surrendered attitude.
There was no kicking & screaming, no wishing it were other than it was, just a task in front of me that needed to be done.

There was even a moment when I questioned the validity of it's need to be done.

Not because I didn't want to do it, but rather a why? Who had decided that the roses could stay and the weeds should go? (but that is a different post)

It was as if the weeds had heard my silent wonderings.

On that day, they shared with me a small part of their purpose. A look inside my inner world.

I contemplated a biblical scripture that made reference to separating the wheat from the shaff.

As I began the task, I noticed some very unusual insights.

When you are pulling the weeds that have been growing for a while, they are strong and their roots are buried deep. You cannot just pull at the top, you have to take the extra time to clear away some of the foundation and get a good hold on the root.

I thought of some of the beliefs in my mind that were like that.
They may be full grown and easily visible, but it still takes extra time to clear the foundation and pull them up at their roots.

Then you have the little weeds that come out of the ground easily.

I thought of the many little beliefs that could easily be discarded.

Of course, you then come across the little weeds that gather in clusters and gain strength in their roots by doing that.
These take extra time & care. You can't just reach in and grab at them...you end up with a handful of weed tops. You have to be patient and careful, putting your attention on each small weed, one at a time.

I thought of the many small beliefs that had entwined themselves to other beliefs.

With time running short and still needing to care for the roses, I had to call it a day with the weeds. I knew that when I returned again, small weeds I had not had time to take of would grow into larger weeds. And there would be new weeds that I had not seen before.

And I thought of my beliefs.

I hope you have gained some insight, perhaps not the same as mine, but something that feels good to you.

WORDS WRITTEN IN STONE

MOST OF US HAVE SEEN THEM
SOME OF US HAVE THEM IN OUR HOMES

Today, I ponder the significance of the place & the depth they have in our lives.

It starts out about words written in stone.......
You know, those rocks that have the words LOVE, PATIENCE, HOPE, KINDNESS & the like etched beautifully into their hard substance so as to endure the trials & tribulations of time.
For some, they are granite coasters inlaid as well with the many colors of passing time.

It dawned on me that I have never considered owning, nor have I seen while visiting homes of friends, stone objects that have words like HATE, IMPATIENCE, DESPAIR, MEAN & the like.

RIDUCULOUS...RIGHT? ? ?

Well, you would think so.

I am sure most of us would not even consider the possibilty of allowing these types of words in stone allowed into our physical existance.
Yet, it occurs to me that we do not have the same vigilance when it comes to allowing these concepts into our mental & emotional states.

With honest measure, I believe, most of us would have to admit that there are times when we allow their presence. We even go further at times to justify and defend their presence.
Even to the point of inviting them in because we proclaim them to be necessary for a situation.

In those moments of clarity in which we see them for what they are, we begin the struggle to vanguish them from our lives. Thereby setting up a endless circle of energy that does nothing but feed their very existance.

I am going to venture into an experiment.......
Starting right NOW, at this very moment, when I recognize one of these words in my thoughts........
I am going to pretend I am in the local craft store or an outdoor art festival and see the word in stone. I will notice it, maybe even pick it up and examine it's texture, then I will place it back and walk away with a firm committment "that I do not want that word written in stone in my home".

I hope you enjoy todays words and that they find a place in your heart.

DOUBLE INTENDRE

I like words that imply double meanings.
hence the missguidedkat(mis-guided kat)

Like my friend TAM,
I like to come up with new words for old things.....
one of my favorites is her new word frizzante
The dictionary meaning refers to wine that is light & sparkly
She has adopted the word and now uses it to describe a mood or an aspect of a personality.

I like to take sayings that have contributed to a concept or belief and switch them up a bit to create a new concept or belief.
I grew up hearing and saying:
You are (I am) a Jack of all trades, master of none.
I have adapted this saying to fit into my
life at this moment
I am a Jack of all trades,
Master of SOME !

Some might say:
You shouldn't break the rules.
It will be confusing and people will not be able to understand you.

Well, here's a flash.
Even when you use a proper word in a proper sentence,
there will be confusion and misunderstanding.

In each human mind,
basic precepts come together to form concepts based on the experiences of that individual.

Concepts, in my humble opinion, are like snow flakes.
No two are ever exactly alike.
From the outside looking in, they appear to be identical.
And I would guess that even from the perspective of an individual snowflake, there seems to be no difference.
From the inside the snowflake looks out and thinks what it sees is afterall just like it.

This post is also designed with a double purpose in mind.....
new to so many things in this wonderful world of the internet

I am playing with the features and applications that this program has to offer. Fonts, color, style and such.
I am feeling very frizzante, and using what comes to mind for the content in this playground.

To anyone who takes the time to read this;
Thank you for sharing my moment, I hope it made you smile.

START WHERE YOU ARE

Here I sit, in awe and wonder of an intelligence that permeates the fabric of our lives.

So many fragmented events, so many micro moments that seem to be independent of each other that have occurred over the past week or two.

In a project to create my first squiddo lens, I choose a man named Peter Russell as the subject for my first topic.

I go to Peter's web site to update myself on information and find a curious new addition to his site.

I get an intuitive nudge for action and I follow through on it.

It is politely rejected, it seems irrellevant, and I let go.

I only wish that I could remember all the steps that followed, I cannot.

I can only tell you where they have led to at this moment.

For some time now, I have been striving to achieve the method and means that would enble me to make drastic changes in my life. Changes that would allow me to live in the moment, free of financial worry and stress, free to pursue my passion and free from the constraints of time.

And this is where the paradox begins:

katipedia: paradox-two views on a topic or situation that appear at first sight to be in direct contrast to one another, however, when the aspects of the situation are removed, it is evident that there is an underlying common truth.

It is not to be implied that the following is a ultimate truth, but rather my truth at this moment.

Thoughts are things, they are the energy with which you create your present reality.

There is in reality no financial stress or worry except that which I choose to create with my thoughts. Nothing more than an accumulation of ideas and concepts around how I think things work, what I believe needs to be done or what I feel needs to be present to achieve my goals.

I ask myself the following questions:

Is there anything I need to do or change before I can live in the present moment?

Are there really any obstacles that have to be removed before I can pursue my passion?

Ultimately, since it is I who controls how I will use time, is there any truth to the idea in my head that my time is limited?

It all comes back to thoughts

In any given moment, there will be one thought or another, jumping up and down in my head, saying, pick me, pick me.

Some thoughts will have concepts attached to them that create more thoughts, like fear thoughts. Fear thoughts are highly evolved creatures. They separate themselves from the other thoughts and give the illusion that they are different...they are real.

Fear thoughts are concepts that been infused with the added stability of emotion, they have pain attached them. As humans, it is a basic survival tool to seek pleasure and avoid pain. All too often as a result, when fear shows itself, we look away or pretend it doesn't exist.

No truer statement has ever been said, "There is nothing to fear, but fear itself."

I have been practicing something new with fear thoughts for a while.

When they surface, I take a good look, a curious and inquisitive look at what they are made of. Sometimes there is uncomfortable emotion or a strange anxiety that beckons me to turn back. I have learned to get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable and to be peaceful while feeling anxiety.

And this is the point where I can go no further,

for you see, this is something you have to experience for yourself to know it's truth.

If you take my word for it, you are doing nothing more than adding new thoughts, new concepts, to a mind all ready on FULL.

In the spirit of a good spring cleaning.....spend a little time in a quiet place and look with child like curiosity at the thoughts that fill your head.....let a few go, make room for some new ones.

Observe the thoughts that have made up the script of your life to this point.

Direct the energy of your thoughts to a specific outcome.

Create a life story that will win the Ultimate Academy Award (Whatever that looks like to you)

As with all that I write or say, take what resonates with you and leave the rest behind for perhaps another time.

Kat :)

MENTORS & MASTERMINDS

I have a favorite long sleeved t-shirt that I wear,
on the front is a picture of hiking boots and a little saying that goes like this....
"All who wander are not lost"

I practice the art of living in the present moment,
and sometimes find it difficult to understand how all the pieces fit together.

This a struggle I believe many can relate to.

I find that life is a mystery and a paradox.

At the very essence of who I am, I see the world in all of it's perfection.
It is only when I engage the thinking mind to apply what I know to the practical ideas of daily life that things get fuzzy.

For the last few months, I have been engaged in a new and interesting place called "MilagroWorld"

It is a wonderful on line community forum that has attracted quite a mix of characters.
The focus of the conversations is as varied as the aspects of life itself.

Over the last couple of weeks, the most amazing thing has happened.
Many seemingly unrelated topics and issues have come together and pieces of my own personal puzzle are falling into place.

As a joke, I created katipedia:
a way to describe terms used by some members to other members that reside in other countries, and are sometimes baffled by the words.

As a result of two prominent conversations that are going on in MW right now,
I would like expand my version of katipedia: and add a couple to my blog.

from katipedia:
mentor; any individual who has more knowledge than you regarding a specific topic or skill, and is willing to guide and direct you to attaining that information or skill. Success in this endeavor, requires a willingness to leave all of your "I know that's " at the door.

from katipedia:
mastermind; any group of people, (can be as few as two) that meet in the middle to discuss and create ideas that lift the energy level and add to the possibilities for the outcome for something new to emerge.

I hope you find something useful or at least enjoyable in this post and all those that will follow,

Kat~
